Aston Villa are continuing to pursue Tyrone Mings on a permanent basis.
According to The Telegraph, Aston Villa may be forced to wait until the end of the month to sign Bournemouth defender Tyrone Mings on a permanent basis.
Villa took Mings on loan on deadline day in January, and the former Ipswich Town man had a huge impact as he solidified the Villa defence, helping them win promotion in the process.
Mings, 26, found himself on the fringes of the Bournemouth side but became a fan favourite at Villa, and fans are desperate to see him sign permanently this summer.
Now, it’s noted that whilst he wants to join Villa permanently, any deal may have to wait until the end of the month as talks continue with the Cherries about a deal.
It’s unclear just why there would be a delay, but Villa fans may have to wait another couple of weeks to see Mings become a permanent Villa player.
Even if Bournemouth were impressed by Mings’ displays for Villa, they seemingly made it clear that he has no real future with the club by signing Lloyd Kelly from Bristol City.
Kelly is a tall, physical defender who can play at left back or centre back. That’s exactly how most would describe Mings too, and Kelly appears to have been brought in as Mings’ replacement.
That will give Villa confidence of securing a deal, but Dean Smith’s side will just need to be a little patient if these new reports are to be believed.
