Former Hull City manager Steve Bruce is open to taking the Aston Villa managerial job if it became available, according to The Sun.

It has been reported by the British tabloid that Bruce has told his friends that becoming the Villa boss appeals to him.

The 55-year-old former Manchester United central defender is without a managerial job at the moment, having stepped down from his role as the Hull boss in July.

The former Birmingham City and Sunderland manager did a brilliant job at Hull, winning two promotions to the Premier League.

Roberto Di Matteo is in charge of Villa at the moment, but the Villans’ performances and results so far this season have not been great.

Villa are 17th in the Championship table at the moment with nine points from as many matches.

Derby's manager Nigel Pearson

According to The Sun, Bruce has also been linked with the managerial job at Derby County.

Nigel Pearson is the current manager of Derby, but the Rams are struggling at the moment and currently find themselves third from bottom in the Championship table.
