Besiktas are interested in signing Aston Villa striker Keinan Davis with Sporx suggesting that the Englishman could replace Leeds United-linked Cyle Larin in Istanbul.

A 22-year-old centre-forward in the Emile Heskey mould, Davis might not be the most natural of goalscorers but there is a lot more to his game than putting the ball in the back of the net.

He is strong as an ox and loves nothing more than shrugging off defenders while opening up spaces for his more technically gifted team-mates. There is a reason why Aston Villa decided to trigger the 12-month extension clause in Davis’s contract, despite the fact he’s scored just four times in 58 matches thus far.

The ink is still dry on those fresh terms – but this has not stopped speculation raging about the future of a late-blooming number nine.

Sporx claim that Besiktas are looking to get at least two strikers off their books this summer with Davis lined-up to take their place at the 15-time Super Lig champions.

And this is where Leeds come in.

It is no secret that Victor Orta, the Whites’ director of football, is a big fan of Canada international Larin. Leeds were first linked when he was banging in the goals alongside Kaka at Orlando City and, after an impressive loan spell at Zulte Waregam, a potential £3.5 million switch to Elland Road has been brought up once again via Fotospor.

The future of this long-standing Leeds target could be tied inextricably to that of an Aston Villa prospect.
