Aston Villa have made a £15 million bid for Callum Wilson, with the England international striker keen to leave Bournemouth and return to the Premier League, according to the Chronicle.
While Wilson had to shoulder his fair share of the blame as Eddie Howe’s Cherries saw their five-year stay in the top flight come to an end, a disappointing season in front of goal doesn’t mean the striker is suffering from a lack offers.
The former Coventry City youngster has been linked with Fulham in recent weeks, while Newcastle could offer Matt Ritchie a return to Bournemouth as part of a player-plus-cash deal.
As it stands, however, Aston Villa appear to be leading the chase.
After surviving the drop on the final day of 2019/20, Dean Smith’s goal-shy side are the first to have made a bid for Wilson’s services.

Their initial offer of £15 million is likely to be rejected, however.
Bournemouth will be fully aware Wilson wants to follow Ryan Fraser and Nathan Ake out the door but that doesn’t mean the South Coast club will sell one of their star players on the cheap.
Wilson scored a disappointing seven goals last season – half the amount he produced in 2018/19.
But that tally is still more than every player in Aston Villa’s squad, except eight-goal top scorer Jack Grealish.
