Aston Villa reportedly wanted Brentford star Said Benrahma.

As announced on Villa’s official website, the Villans have signed Wesley from Belgian club Club Brugge.
Sky Sports have reported that Dean Smith’s side – who will play in the Premier League next season after clinching promotion from the Championship via the playoffs – will pay Club Brugge an initial transfer fee of £22 million for the 22-year-old forward.
The report has claimed that Villa made the move for the Brazilian after they were knocked by Brentford in their pursuit of Benrahma.

Benrahma, who can operate as a winger or as a forward, played under current Villa boss Smith when he was the manager of Brentford.
According to WhoScored, the Algeria international made 29 starts and nine substitute appearances in the Championship for Brentford this past season, scoring 10 goals and providing 14 assists in the process.
According to Sky Sports, Wesley scored 17 goals for Club Brugge this past season.
