Aston Villa are amongst the Championship sides targeting a move for Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson.

Henderson is yet to make a first-team appearance for the Premier League giants and has spent much of his time with the club out on loan, with Shrewsbury taking him for the season back in the summer.

The 21-year-old has been hugely impressive for the League One promotion-chasers and it appears that a queue of clubs could be forming as his contract runs into its final months.

Potential coup for Villa?
Henderson appears to have a very bright future ahead of him, so bringing him on a free would surely be a massive coup for an Aston Villa side which has a major question mark over its goalkeeper situation.
Sam Johnstone is only on loan from Manchester United and none of Steve Bruce’s other options look quite capable of stepping into the fold if an extension to Johnstone’s deal cannot be agreed at the end of the campaign.
Keeping Johnstone may be the safer option at this stage, but signing Henderson on a free appears to have the potential to be a masterstroke for the Villans if they manage to pull it off.
