Aston Villa’s Carlos Sanchez has been linked with a move away this summer.
According to Sky Sports (live transfer thread, August 5th 2016 at 16:28), Aston Villa are keen to sell midfielder Carlos Sanchez rather than let the player leave on a season-long loan deal.
A recent report by Italian publication Gianluca Di Marzio suggested that Serie A side Fiorentina have submitted an offer for Sanchez, asking to take the player on a season-long loan.
The Italian club are seemingly confident they can secure a deal for the Colombia international as they look to bolster their midfield ranks this summer, yet Villa are seeking a permanent deal instead.
New manager Roberto Di Matteo is said to have confirmed that he has informed both Joleon Lescott and Sanchez that they are free to leave Villa Park, and that the club is in talks with Fiorentina over the latter.
Sanchez arrived with the West Midlands club two years ago and soon established himself as a regular fixture in the starting XI, making 28 Premier League appearances in his debut campaign.
However, despite crowning his debut season with an appearance in the FA Cup final at Wembley, his Villa career soon turned sour as both the club and player disappointed last term.
Villa’s consequential relegation to the Championship has prompted questions over the futures of a number of players at the club, and Sanchez is one who has been heavily tipped to leave.
The club are seemingly happy for the midfielder to go, though Villa evidently feel they will be better off by securing a permanent deal for him now rather than allowing him to go on an initial loan deal.
