Aston Villa are reportedly interested in signing Middlesbrough youngster Marcus Tavernier this summer.

According to a report from the Northern Echo, Aston Villa are interested in signing Middlesbrough starlet Marcus Tavernier, with his brother also reportedly on Dean Smith’s radar.
The Daily Mail reported on Saturday that the Villans are keen on landing Rangers captain James Tavernier following his outstanding season at Ibrox and Alan Hutton’s departure from Villa Park after his contract expired.
And it appears that Smith may be keen to reunite the brothers at the same club for the first time since Marcus was released by Newcastle back in 2013.
The Northern Echo reports that the Boro youngster is a Villa target following their promotion to the Premier League, with Watford also interested in the 20-year-old, who made 20 Championship appearances at the Riverside Stadium this past season.

Tavernier only started twice in the league during Tony Pulis’ final year at the club, but still managed to score three goals and provide one assist for Middlesbrough as they agonisingly fell short in the race to secure a spot in the top six.
Boro’s focus will be on finding their next manager. But once an appointment is made, it is likely that one of their main tasks could be to convince Tavernier not to leave despite the Premier League attention that he is now receiving.
