According to reports from TWTD, Aston Villa have joined the race to sign Ipswich Town striker David McGoldrick in the January transfer window.

The Villans were linked with a move for Leicester City striker Leonardo Ulloa, but he seems to be staying in the Premier League, with Brighton being favourites to sign him.

And McGoldrick has become the latest name to be linked with the Claret and Blues. The 30-year-old is wanted by Championship rivals Birmingham City and Cardiff City, and he is reportedly available for £500,000.

His contract is set to expire at the end of the season, and as a result, he is one of the in-demand strikers in the transfer market at the moment.

Town boss Mick McCarthy has confirmed that there has not been any direct offer on the table for McGoldrick, although owner Marcus Edwards has taken calls from the player’s agent.

The former Nottingham Forest forward has scored eight times in 22 matches this season, and would be a good short-term solution in absence of Jonathan Kodjia.
