Aston Villa were amongst the host of sides that sent scouts to watch Sam van Huffel turn out for ADO Den Haag’s under-21s.

And while some may crumble under that kind of pressure, van Huffel seemed to rise to the occasion and write a script that he would have dreamed about if he had known beforehand that he had the group of scouts looking him.
The game was level at 2-2 heading into the final 10 minutes with the home side equalising for a second time just a couple of minutes earlier. But they were not level for long as van Huffel scored the game’s fifth goal eight minutes from time to hand the visitors the victory.

Given his contract situation and his performance in front of the scouts, it would be a surprise if the Villa representatives were not heading back to England with glowing reports regarding the teenager.
He may not have much first-team experience behind him – he has been an unused substitute for the senior side once this term – but there seems little risk involved in pursuing a deal, and it appears that he could have a promising future ahead of him.
