Aston Villa are keen on Kyle Walker-Peters as they consider raiding Southampton ahead of their expected relegation.

That is according to a report from 90Min, who claim that Walker-Peters is firmly on Villa’s transfer radar.

Southampton look set to drop out of the Premier League with Championship football surely on the horizon.

The Saints do though have some talented players who are bound to attract major interest.

Walker-Peters is just one of them, alongside the likes of Mohammed Salisu, Romeo Lavia and James Ward-Prowse.

Villa are now challenging for Champions League football after a stunning run of form and could invest in Walker-Peters.

Aston Villa will face competition for Kyle Walker-Peters

Walker-Peters has racked up 23 Premier League appearances this season and continues to impress with regular top-flight action.

Now 26, Walker-Peters isn’t the kid that struggled to get a game at Tottenham anymore.

Villa will love the versatility that Walker-Peters offers as a right back who can also play on the left.

Walker-Peters can offer quality competition for Matty Cash on the right as well as Lucas Digne and Alex Moreno on the other side.

That could be absolutely vital if Villa do end up in Europe next season.

Villa will though face some competition for Walker-Peters if they do make a move for the Saints ace.

Transfer insider Dean Jones told Give Me Sport last month that Arsenal have been showing an interest in Walker-Peters.

This follows on from The Athletic reporting last summer that Arsenal fancied landing the former Spurs man.

Interestingly, that report also suggested that Tottenham placed a £30million buy-back clause in Walker-Peters’ move.

That hasn’t really been spoken about elsewhere but it’s something for Villa to pay close attention to as they consider a summer bid.
