Steve Bruce signed the player when Hull City manager.

Aston Villa are said to be interested in the signature of Hull City winger Robert Snodgrass – as reported by the Daily Record.

The Scottish winger has turned down a new deal at Hull and with his contract expiring in the summer the report claims that Hull are ready to cash in on the player for a fee in the region of £4 million.

Aston Villa have been mooted as one potential destination for the Scotsman – with the Birmingham Mail also reporting the potential move.

Of course Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce will know Snodgrass well. He was the man who signed him for Hull – snapping him up from Norwich City in 2014 and the Aston Villa boss is a big fan of the winger.

Villa are short in the wide positions and Snodgrass would therefore be an excellent option for the club in their push for the promotion places in the Championship.

However, Snodgrass has interest from several Premier League teams and Villa will have a fight on their hands convincing him that a switch to the Championship is in his best interests.

Hopefully the presence of Bruce can help them secure a transfer coup.
