Aston Villa are reportedly keen on Newcastle’s Isaac Hayden.

According to The Mirror, Aston Villa are battling Championship rivals West Bromwich Albion for the signature of Newcastle United midfielder Isaac Hayden.
Hayden, 23, joined Newcastle from Arsenal in 2016, and has now racked up more than 70 appearances for the Magpies having played a key role in the club’s promotion to the Premier League.
However, the holding midfielder has been looking to leave since the end of last season, citing personal reasons as he wants to move further south.
The Mirror note that West Bromwich Albion remain keen on Hayden despite having a loan bid rejected for him already, with Rafael Benitez reluctant to let him go.
However, Aston Villa have now joined the race for Hayden’s signature, with Dean Smith understood to be keen on signing the midfielder this month.

Given Villa’s need to comply with FFP regulations, any move for Hayden would surely be a loan deal, adding competition to Glenn Whelan in holding midfielder.
If Villa can pull it off, it would be a second transfer win over West Brom, having beaten them to Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Kortney Hause according to the Daily Mail.
