Aston Villa are reportedly interested in signing Costel Pantilimon from Watford in the summer transfer window.

Aston Villa are interested in signing Costel Pantilimon from Watford in the summer transfer window, according to The Mirror.
It has been reported on The Mirror’s Transfer News Live blog (19:49, June 19) that new Villa manager Roberto Di Matteo wants Pantilimon to join him at Villa Park.
However, according to the report, the 29-year-old former Sunderland goalkeeper is not willing to take a pay-cut and move to the Championship club.

Di Matteo, though, is hoping that the chance to play regular first-team football will motivate the former Manchester City custodian to make the switch, claims the report.
Villa got relegated from the Premier League at the end of the 2015-16 campaign and will feature in the Championship next season.
Pantilimon left Sunderland for Premier League rivals Watford in the January transfer window, but he struggled for playing time at Vicarage Road.

In fact, the Romania international goalkeeper did not make a single appearance in the Premier League for Watford after making the switch from the Black Cats.
Villa will be aiming to finish at least in the playoffs of the Championship next season.
