According to the Daily Mail, Aston Villa are preparing a new move to sign Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe permanently – and hope to pay just £8million.

Tuanzebe, 21, spent last season on loan at Villa Park, and really kicked on under Dean Smith as he formed a superb defensive partnership with Tyrone Mings.

The defender returns to Manchester United this summer, but with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seeking at least one new centre back, there’s a chance Tuanzebe could be available.

Villa are now preparing their move, and hope to tie up a deal worth around £8million with add-ons on top, though they would take a loan move if they can’t sign him full-time.

It goes without saying really, but this would be an outstanding move by Villa. Tuanzebe excelled as a Championship centre back, and at just 21, he has the potential to become a Premier League regular.

In truth, he’s ready for top-flight action now, and it won’t come with United as things stand. Having enjoyed his time at Villa, they would surely be in the box seat for a deal.

£8million is a more than reasonable price in this market, and keeping another of the club’s loan stars on a permanent deal would be superb business having already kept hold of Kourtney Hause and Anwar El Ghazi.
