Aston Villa are reportedly hoping to celebrate their promotion to the Premier League with a permanent move for Tyrone Mings.
According to a report from The Telegraph, Aston Villa hope to soon get talks with Bournemouth underway as they look to sign Tyrone Mings on a permanent basis following their promotion to the Premier League.
Dean Smith’s men have booked their ticket to the top flight after beating Derby County 2-1 in the Championship play-off final at Wembley. And while he may not have been on the pitch when the final whistle went, it is probably fair to suggest that few players have had a bigger impact on Villa’s season than Mings has.
The defender arrived on loan during the January transfer window when Villa boasted one of the worst defensive records in the division and looked to be out of the running for the play-offs.
However, his form helped change the path of their season. They kept six clean sheets with Mings in the side, while Sheffield United and West Brom were the only teams to score more than once against the Villans in games in which when the 26-year-old played.
Unsurprisingly, sorting his future appears to be a key piece of business for Villa ahead of their return to England’s top table. And The Telegraph reports they will open negotiations with his parent club soon in the hope of agreeing a deal that could be worth up to £15 million.
With his fitness issues seemingly behind him, a £15 million fee looks to have the potential to be an absolute steal for Villa. And given the form that he showed over the last few months, getting him signed permanently could be the ideal way to celebrate their promotion back to the Premier League.
