Aston Villa are interested in signing Wylan Cyprien from Nice in the summer transfer window, according to FootMercato.

It has been reported by the French news outlet that Villa have made an offer of €17.5 million (£15.97 million) for the 25-year-old attacking midfielder.

The report has claimed that the Villans see the former France Under-21 international as a player who can have a ‘trajectory similar to that of Idrissa Gueye’.

Gueye joined Villa from Lille in 2015 and switched to Everton in 2016 before moving to French giants Paris Saint-Germain in 2019.

Nice spell

Cyprien has been on the books of Nice since 2016 and has established himself as an important player in the team.

According to WhoScored, the 25-year-old made 20 appearances in Ligue 1 for Nice last season, scoring seven goals and providing three assists in the process.

During the 2018-19 campaign, the attacking midfielder made 27 starts and two substitute appearances in the league, scoring four goals and providing two assists in the process, according to WhoScored.

Cyprien would be a good signing for Villa in the summer transfer window, but it remains to be seen if Nice are wiling to sell him for what the Villans have offered to them.
