According to the Daily Mail, Aston Villa playmaker Jack Grealish’s calf injury will keep him out for at least two weeks – and the club fear it could be even longer.

Grealish was taken off after 84 minutes of Saturday’s 3-0 defeat at Manchester City, and left the stadium on crutches as a precaution because of that calf injury.

It’s claimed that the early indications are that Grealish will miss two weeks, but Villa are actually fearing that it could rule their star playmaker out for four weeks.

If that is the case, Grealish would miss Wednesday’s Carabao Cup clash with Wolves, next weekend’s home game with Liverpool and the Premier League trip to Wolves before potentially returning to face Newcastle United after the international break.

Grealish may also miss out on a spot in Gareth Southgate’s England squad, presenting James Maddison with another chance to edge ahead of Grealish in the race for a spot in the side.

Grealish has been superb this season, making the step up from Championship to Premier League football seamlessly, meaning Villa fans have been calling for England recognition.

Only four players have created more chances than Grealish in the Premier League this season; Trent Alexander-Arnold, Kevin De Bruyne, Pascal Gross and Lucas Digne.

That just goes to show what a force 24-year-old Grealish has been, and Villa will certainly miss him in their upcoming games whilst praying that it’s two weeks out rather than four for their talismanic midfielder.
