Italian outlet CMW claim Aston Villa have made a request to Juventus to sign their talented teenage midfielder Fabio Miretti ahead of January – with Miretti starring this season in his first, proper breakthrough into the Juve first team.

Coming into the 2022-23 season, Miretti had only played seven times for Juventus’ first team. But fast forward a few months, and the one-time Italy international has clocked up 18 appearances alone this season. A total of 25 for Juve.

To break into a Juve side that are constantly bringing in new players and have stalwarts in certain positions, it is very impressive. He earned praise from boss Max Allegri this year – who said it is “rare” to get such a star from the academy.

Now, CMW report that Villa have made a request to Juventus to bring Miretti to the Premier League. Whether or not Juve entertain such a move remains to be seen, given Miretti has a contract until June 2026. An exciting prospect.

Villa make request to sign Juventus midfielder Miretti

A serious coup, if Villa could get Miretti. Unai Emery may have identified the midfield as an area that requires cash to be spent. Boubacar Kamara is back after an injury, but John McGinn’s form has been up and down this season.

Jacob Ramsey and Emi Buendia are considered more attacking, while Douglas Luiz has signed a new deal. But in terms of passing the ball and transitional play, Villa need a player like Miretti. Highly unlikely, though, that Juve let him go.

Allegri is a huge fan of the Juve star. He will see a big future for Miretti with the Old Lady. For Miretti, coming through the academy at his boyhood club, he will only be trying to become a Juve legend. Villa have little chance of a deal.
