According to Corriere dello Sport, Aston Villa are interested in signing Paul Onuachu, although he’s admitted to dreaming about joining Arsenal.

What’s the story?

Well, the towering KRC Genk striker has been linked to many Premier League clubs, although Aston Villa are newcomers to this transfer race.

Corriere dello Sport believe the Villans are monitoring Onuachu, who put his name up in lights last season with 35 goals in 41 games.

The Italian news outlet add that Arsenal are tracking the 15-cap Nigeria international as well, a destination he would seemingly prefer.

When quizzed on where he’d like to play in future, Onuachu admitted that he really likes Arsenal, and hopes for a move to the Emirates Stadium.

In that respect, Aston Villa will hope the Gunners don’t firm up their interest with a bid, or there may only be one place he’ll move to.

So far this season, the 27-year-old has continued his fine form with 12 goals in 18 appearances, picking up where he left off last season.

What could Paul Onuachu offer Aston Villa or Arsenal?

One thing that stands out about Onuachu is his height.

The Nigerian stands at a massive 6ft 7in, making him a nightmare to defend against in the air.

In fact, Onuachu’s aerial prowess has seen him score 39 headers throughout his career, which is very impressive, to say the least.

The KRC Genk hitman is also quite good with his feet, so he would be able to act as an effective target man for Dean Smith or Mikel Arteta.

Given the physical nature of English football, Onuachu seems tailor made for the rigours of the Premier League, and clearly knows how to score goals.

Keep an eye on this saga, with Arsenal and Aston Villa potentially going head-to-head in the January transfer window.
