Aston Villa reportedly want Chelsea’ Ethan Ampadu on loan.

According to The Guardian, Aston Villa are interested in signing Chelsea youngster Ethan Ampadu on loan for the upcoming Premier League season.

Villa have already tied up three new signings, as Jota and Wesley Moraes have arrived, whilst Anwar El Ghazi has made his loan move from Lille permanent.

Dean Smith will continue his recruitment drive in the coming weeks, and finding a holding midfielder will be absolutely key after releasing veterans Glenn Whelan and Mile Jedinak.

Now, it’s believed that Villa will target a loan deal for Chelsea teenager Ampadu, with coach John Terry knowing all about the Welshman having trained with the Blues early last season.

Ampadu, 18, has been tipped for stardom having not only impressed in limited minutes for Chelsea, but also with a starting role for Ryan Giggs with the Welsh national team.

The former Exeter City talent has impressed with his maturity and composure despite his youth, whilst he also possesses quality on the ball and in the tackle, emerging as a promising young anchor man.

Ampadu would help fill the void left by Whelan and Jedinak, but chief executive Christian Purslow was recently quoted by the Birmingham Mail as saying that he wouldn’t really want to bring in loan players anymore.

Purslow wouldn’t want loan players where Villa would struggle to purchase them in the future, and Ampadu ticks that box, just as Chelsea teammate Tammy Abraham did – and it remains to be seen whether Villa make an exception for Ampadu.
