The Birmingham Mail have reported that Aston Villa may suffer a double injury blow ahead of the visit of Stoke City on Saturday afternoon, following their 2-2 draw with Midlands rivals West Bromwich Albion.

Villa were pegged back by West Brom twice at the Hawthorns, with Anwar El Ghazi putting Dean Smith’s side ahead twice – the second an excellent, rasping shot that evaded Sam Johnstone and flew into the top corner.

But Dwight Gayle equalised for West Brom first, before Jay Rodriguez scored a hugely controversial second goal. Replays showed the former England international palming a loose ball into the back of the net.

Now, Villa have suffered even more bad news after what will feel like a defeat to the Baggies. Neil Taylor suffered what seemed to be a hamstring strain against West Brom, while Jack Grealish could also be sidelined.

Taylor, who has suffered a number of injury problems since his move to Villa, was withdrawn in the 52nd minute and replaced by Ahmed El Mohamady. It saw Alan Hutton move to the left side of defence to cover Taylor.

Grealish has been nursing a shin injury of late, and was withdrawn after 87 minutes against West Brom – replaced by Glenn Whelan. Both players are now major doubts for the clash against Stoke on Saturday at Villa Park.
