Aston Villa are discussing bringing in Graham Potter as their next manager, according to a report.
The Daily Record have claimed that the Brighton boss has been discussed alongside a handful of other names, such as Steven Gerrard and Roberto Martinez.
The 46-year-old has worked wonders at the Amex Stadium since he was appointed their manager in 2019 and would probably delight fans if he was brought in.
On Sunday afternoon, Villa made the ruthless call to sack Dean Smith as their manager after he helped them to promotion during their three years at the club.
With one boyhood Villa fan out of the door, another could enter in Potter, if he was to be appointed.
The 46-year-old shared that he followed the Midlands side growing up, especially during the most successful spell of their history, when they won the European Cup in 1982, as posted by the Birmingham Mail.
Ironically enough, Villa, who are on a five-game losing streak, host Brighton after the international break.
It would be something if Potter is actually in the home dugout, rather than the away one in a few weeks time.
But, at this moment in time, it’s still early days as to who will be part of Villa’s final shortlist – they have this well-timed international break to bring someone in.
Whilst someone like Potter has the playing style and long-term progression to help push Villa forward.
Some would argue that they would have been better off keeping Smith, if they bring someone of his calibre and experience in.
