Aston Villa look likely to sell Jordan Amavi to raise funds for new signings but La Liga giants Sevilla will have to fork out far more.
Just six months ago, Aston Villa owner Tony Xia took great pride in decreeing to the masses that he had rejected a bid of £25 million for Jordan Amavi, as reported by The Guardian.
Flash forward to the present day, however, and the Financial Fair Play restrictions preventing Villa from bringing in new players this summer means that they will accept far less for the flying full-back.
Jordan Amavi’s stock has fallen at Aston Villa
According to Marca, Spanish giants Sevilla have set the ball rolling with an opening bid of £5.3 million – but Villa have made clear that they want to recoup the £9 million they paid Ligue 1 outfit Nice for Amavi’s signature two summers ago.
Championship to Champions League?
After a year on the sidelines with a horrific knee injury that cut short his debut season in English football, the France Under-21 international has struggled for consistency in Villa colours.
Amavi’s form in the 2016/17 campaign left a lot to be desired as Steve Bruce’s side limped to a 13th placed finish in the Championship, his defensive deficiencies leading the manager to replace him with the more pragmatic Neil Taylor midway through the campaign.
Therefore, this, coupled with Amavi’s desire to play European football, means any Villa supporters worried about his exit in January would surely be much more understanding if the club cashed in on one of their most valuable players this summer.

Especially with a number of astute targets, such as Aaron Mooy and Sam Gallagher, slipping through the club’s net.
The Telegraph claim that Villa will have to sell before they can buy this summer and making £9 million from Amavi’s sale would allow the Midlands club to finally make their mark in the transfer window.
