Aston Villa defender James Chester has been linked with moves away.

Aston Villa central defender James Chester is ready to move on amid interest from Brighton and Hove Albion and Stoke City, according to The Daily Mail.

It has been reported that Brighton and Stoke are considering opening bids for the 29-year-old centre-back, who is claimed to have cost Villa £8 million in transfer fees when they signed him from West Bromwich Albion in the summer of 2016.

Chester is one of the best defenders in the Championship, and the performances of the former Manchester United prospect this past season were very encouraging.

The former West Brom centre-back was a key figure in Villa’s march to the Championship playoff final.

With the Villans having FFP issues, the club may have to sell Chester, and it would not come as a surprise if the former Hull City man does find himself at another club next season.

Chester would be a good signing for Premier League club Brighton and Stoke, who will play in the Championship next season after getting relegated from the Premier League.
