Tom Heaton has rejected a contract at Burnley with Premier League newcomers Aston Villa interested.

In most cases, paying £5 million for a 33-year-old who has just 12 months left on his contract would be a rather odd move. But this is Tom Heaton we’re talking about, one of the Premier League’s best and most experienced goalkeepers.
The former Manchester United youngster has put Burnley in a very awkward position by rejecting the chance to extend his current deal at Turf Moor.
The Clarets could now be forced to cash in. And according to The Sun, they could be willing to accept £5 million for a goalkeeper whose performances in the second half of last season were nothing short of exceptional.
And to say Heaton would be the perfect summer signing for Aston Villa would be an understatement.
It is no secret that Villa want a new number one after Orjan Nyland and Lovre Kalinic failed to convince and The Sun reports that they are keen on England international Heaton.

Now, he’d be far, far cheaper than the likes of Jack Butland and Neil Etheridge and, even at the age of 33, he still has a number of years left at the top level.
For £5 million, Heaton has the potential to be one of the Premier League’s most inspired bargain buys.
