Aston Villa are reportedly closing in on a deal for John Terry with Birmingham City resigned to missing out.
A report from the Daily Mirror has suggested that Aston Villa could complete a deal for John Terry when his Chelsea contract expires this weekend, with Birmingham resigned to missing out on the former England captain.
Terry is set to move away from Stamford Bridge this summer, and has no shortage of offers with the Mirror suggesting the two Championship outfits have been joined by a host of Premier League sides in the running for his signature.

However, the Mirror has suggested that his desire to avoid coming up against the Blues – Chelsea, that is – has helped him make up his mind that he wishes to drop into the second tier, with Villa seemingly potentially just days away from announcing the 36-year-old as their latest signing.
The Mirror reports that Harry Redknapp is ready to admit defeat in his pursuit of Terry, with the centre-back set to make the switch to Villa Park.
Though Terry’s best years appear to be behind him, there is no question that his arrival should hand Steve Bruce’s men a significant boost ahead of the Championship season.
Not only should he be more than capable of making an impact in the second tier, he should surely also prove to be a major influence on the rest of the Villans first-team squad, as well as the youngsters coming through, and may perhaps help instil that winning mentality that will undoubtedly help Bruce’s men challenge for promotion next term.
