Aston Villa are reportedly hoping to appoint Brentford boss Dean Smith.

According to the Birmingham Mail, Aston Villa are now turning to Brentford boss Dean Smith as their top managerial target – and have already sounded him out for the role.
Villa sacked manager Steve Bruce this time last week, and have been attempting to find a replacement, but it has turned into a real saga over the last few days.
Thierry Henry was expected to land the role, but he has turned the club down as he closes in on a move to Monaco, and that led the club to consider a move for Rui Faria.
However, the former Manchester United assistant has also snubbed the role, with the Birmingham Mail claiming he has no interest in the position right now.
Villa must now form a new plan, and the Birmingham Mail’s report claims that Brentford boss Dean Smith is now the new first-choice for Villa.
Smith, a boyhood Villa fan, is wanted by many fans after impressive work with Brentford and Walsall, pushing an attractive brand of football and an environment for young players to develop.

Smith has now allegedly been contacted about the position, and Villa are seriously considering partnering him up with John Terry in a managerial team at Villa Park.
Terry has been prominent throughout the managerial search, with the ex-Villa defender likely to be the assistant manager to whoever does come in – and if Smith accepts that idea, then he could well be the frontrunner for the job.
