Aston Villa might consider the Crystal Palace midfielder, according to reports.
Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce has been linked with a number of central midfielders this summer, and had a £500k bid for Stoke City’s Glenn Whelan rejected already.
But it would appear as if the Villa manager has turned his attentions to the Palace man, as The Daily Mail reports that the Scotland international is considered an option by Bruce.
Should such a move materialise, it would see the 29-year-old reunited with midfield partner Mile Jedinak, who played with McArthur for two years at Crystal Palace.
It has been a relatively quiet window for Aston Villa so far but ESPN reported on Friday that the Villans are closing in on a move for Chelsea legend John Terry.
Bruce’s side finished 13th in the Championship last season and it is obvious that work needs to be done if they are to win Premier League promotion next term.
But the veteran manager has four promotions under his belt, with two different teams, so he clearly knows the way to the top flight and he will look to add the players necessary to help him on that journey.
Time will tell whether the Palace man, worth £6.1 million according to Transfermarkt, will be apart of that adventure.
