Aston Villa have been in competition with West Bromwich Albion for Tyrone Mings.
According to the Express and Star, Aston Villa are closing in on signing Tyrone Mings.
West Bromwich Albion and Villa are all said to be chasing Mings, and it seems that it is Villa who are currently leading the way.
Dean Smith’s men were reportedly winning the race yesterday, as Villa edged closer to getting a deal over the line.
Bournemouth want £1 million to loan Mings out until the end of the season, which seems steep.
However, Villa are desperate for a left-back, and Mings certainly would be a strong addition at Championship level.
Bournemouth once paid £8 million to sign the defender from Ipswich Town (Guardian), and he has proven himself to be a very reliable presence at Championship level in the past.
If Mings does arrive at Villa he is likely to take the left-back slot in Smith’s starting line-up off Neil Taylor until the end of the campaign.
Mings would become Villa’s third January signing, following the additions of Lovre Kalinic and Kortney Hause.
