Aston Villa are still reportedly keen to sign the West Ham United winger on loan.
According to a report from the Birmingham Mail, Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce is desperate to bring Robert Snodgrass back to Villa Park on loan before the end of this month, but West Ham are reluctant to sanction his exit.
The Scotland international played a key role for the Villans during his season-long loan spell with the club last term, racking up an impressive eight goals and 13 assists in 40 Championship appearances.
He returned to West Ham in the summer, however, and has already made two appearances for Manuel Pellegrini’s men this season.
Bruce is still desperate to bring him back to the west Midlands, however.
The Birmingham Mail claims that the Aston Villa boss has contacted Pellegrini about the prospect of taking the 30-year-old on loan for another season.
The Hammers are allegedly reluctant to sanction Snodgrass’ exit from the London Stadium, however, and it is looking increasingly more likely that the Scot will remain in east London this season.
Bruce spoke to the Mirror a few days ago about the West Ham ace:
“Snodgrass was a very important player for us. He was a class act but has since returned to West Ham. He is trying to make an impression on a new manager and I don’t know anything about his current situation.”
There are still 11 days remaining until the transfer window slams shut, however, so Aston Villa should not give up hope of signing Snodgrass on loan just yet.
