French outlet Jeunes Footeux report that Aston Villa are battling Brighton and Crystal Palace in the race to sign Terem Moffi ahead of the January window – with Gladbach also considering a move as a replacement for Marcus Thuram.
Moffi, 23, has been in sensational form for Lorient this season. Coming into the campaign, the seven-time Nigeria star had only scored 23 goals in 72 games. But this season, he has an incredible 10 goals in 14 Ligue 1 appearances.
That includes a goal against Paris Saint-Germain in a 2-1 loss during November. So, Moffi is in sensational form and at just 23, he is attracting interest. Jeunes Footeux say there is interest from three Premier League clubs, and Germany.
Namely, Villa are joined by Brighton and Palace in tracking the striker. Thuram, currently in Qatar with France, is set to leave Gladbach with his deal ending in June. Gladbach are keen on Moffi as a replacement. JF say he is rated at £17m.

So, where does Moffi go? Villa have Danny Ings and Ollie Watkins up top. They are decent strikers and while Unai Emery might want more fire power up top – they may have to sell one of their two options first. Palace are similar.
Jean-Philippe Mateta and Odsonne Edouard, as well as Jordan Ayew. So, Patrick Vieira too has options. But Brighton need a striker more than Villa and Palace – having sold Neal Maupay to Everton in the summer transfer window.
Whether or not any of the Premier League clubs can deter the lure of Gladbach in January, though, remains to be seen. Moffi will see a number of Ligue 1 strikers that have gone to Germany and thrive. Such as Thuram. It will tempt him.
