According to Calciomercato, Aston Villa and West Ham have made offers to Inter Milan outcast Matías Vecino.

The Uruguay international has fallen out of favour under Antonio Conte this season, failing to make a single appearance this term.

His omission from Conte’s side comes after he amassed 96 appearances for the Italian giants, following a €24 million (£21.7 million) move from Fiorentina.

In their announcement of the midfield maestro’s arrival, Inter Milan described Vecino as ‘one of the most reliable midfielders’ in Serie A.

It appears that Inter Milan are trying to shift a few players on this January, as Christian Eriksen’s future at the San Siro also seems unclear based on Calciomercato‘s original report.

He may be 29 years of age, but there’s no denying that Vecino would add some South American bite to either Aston Villa or West Ham’s midfield.

The Uruguayan has racked up 41 caps for his country, having made his name at Fiorentina before his big-money move to Milan.

While the Hammers – who are still starting Mark Noble – could do with Vecino, it seems unlikely that he would slot straight into Dean Smith’s midfield.

Why? Well, the ex-Brentford boss appears to have found a nice blend in the middle of the park.

Douglas Luiz, Jack Grealish and John McGinn have helped Villa sit seven points off the top of the Premier League, with two games in hand over Liverpool.

Smith can also call on Ross Barkley, so his midfield options are plentiful.
