Everton midfielder James McCarthy could leave on loan, with Aston Villa and West Bromwich Albion both keen.

Villa and West Brom both appear to be in the market for a defensive midfielder, and McCarthy has come up on their radar as his future at Goodison Park looks uncertain.
The Everton man has suffered badly with injury in recent times, and seems to have fallen out of favour at Marco Silva’s side, which has put both Dean Smith and Darren Moore on alert.
Villa and West Brom both want to add defensive steel to their ranks, and see McCarthy as a potential signing on a loan basis.
McCarthy also has interest from Premier League side Bournemouth, with it looking more and more likely he will leave Everton this month.

The 28-year-old has failed to even make one competitive appearance since breaking his leg at the start of last year, but Villa and West Brom still feel he could have something to offer them for the remainder of the campaign.
Both Villa and the Baggies are battling for promotion in the Championship, and McCarthy’s arrival would be a boost to either side’s chances of going up.
