Stephy Mavididi was linked with both Aston Villa and Leeds United this summer.
According to Il Mattino in Italy, Juventus attacker Stephy Mavididi is all set for a move to Benevento after a return to England failed to materialise.
Mavididi, 21, earned a shock move from Arsenal to Juventus last summer, ending an eight-year association with the Gunners for an Italian adventure.
The skilful, speedy attacker hit six goals in 32 games for the Juventus Under-23’s last season, and was even handed a first-team debut by Massimiliano Allegri.
Back in June, TEAMtalk reported that Mavididi was a target for the likes of Aston Villa, Leeds United, Newcastle United and even Everton, having caught the eye last term.
The English deadline passed without Mavididi making a return home though, and it now seems he’s set for a new permanent move in Italy.
Il Mattino claim that Benevento are making their final push to secure Mavididi’s signature, and Calciomercato claim a permanent move is close, but is only being held up by Juventus demanding a huge 50% sell-on clause.
Mavididi is still expected to complete his move to the Serie B side, in which he will be playing under former Italian legend Pippo Inzaghi – a huge draw for any striker.
A move back to England won’t be a surprise if it does materialise one day, and Villa, Newcastle and Leeds may well keep him on their radars, but for now, he will be trying to prove himself in Serie B.
