A report in the Daily Mail has suggested that Aston Villa and Crystal Palace were among the English clubs to send scouts to watch Amiens midfielder Guessouma Fofana on Friday.
The Mail reports that Villa, Palace, Bournemouth and Stoke City all had representatives in attendance for the Ligue 2 side’s clash with Le Havre, with the 24-year-old on their radar.
While Fofana enjoyed a fairly unspectacular evening on the night as Amiens picked up a 2-0 win, he has certainly enjoyed a promising season for the top-half side, scoring three times and contributing three assists in the league.
The Mail reports that Amiens value the midfielder at £4 million, while they add that Le Havre’s £10 million-rated left-back Ferland Mendy may have also been attracting some attention from the scouts.

While the Villans may be concerned about their chances of landing his signature – should they decide to pursue a move – considering that they may be competing against top flight teams, Steve Bruce may perhaps be able to tempt Fofana towards Villa Park by convincing him that he is more likely to enjoy first-team football with them than if he goes elsewhere.
However, some Villa fans may be wondering whether they need a player like Fofana given the depth they already boast in the middle of the park, having signed the likes of Henri Lansbury, Conor Hourihane and Birkir Bjarnason during the January transfer window.
