Aston Villa and Leicester City are interested in signing Filip Helander from Steven Gerrard’s Rangers, according to Aftonbladet.
It has been reported that Dean Smith’s Villa and Brendan Rodgers’s Leicester have been impressed by Helander’s performances for Rangers.
Described as “outstanding” by Rangers manager Gerrard in Aftonbladet, the 27-year-old central defender has been a key figure in the Gers winning the Scottish Premiership title and reaching the Europa League Round of 16 this season.
According to WhoScored, the Sweden international central defender has scored one goal in 21 Scottish Premiership matches and scored one goal in four Europa League games for the Gers this season.
Leaving Rangers for the Premier League?
Villa and Leicester are big and established clubs in the Premier League, but it is hard to see Rangers being open to selling Helander in the summer of 2021.

After all, the Gers have just won the Scottish Premiership title, and the Ibrox club are not going to dismantle the team and start selling their best players.
Of course, money talks, but Gerrard is very unlikely to be willing to part ways with Helander.
