According to Super Deporte, Aston Villa and Arsenal have missed out on the signing of Facundo Rodriguez to Valencia.

It has been reported that Arsenal and Villa – who will play in the Premier League next season after clinching promotion from the Championship via the playoffs – wanted to sign Rodriguez.

Italian giants Juventus and Spanish outfit Atletico Madrid also wanted to secure the services of the 16-year-old defender as well, but he is joining Valencia instead, according to the report.

Villa and Arsenal reportedly came in late for the talented and promising teenage defender, and La Liga outfit Valencia moved quickly to secure the 16-year-old services.

Given that Rodriguez is only 16 years of age, he will probably start life at Valencia with the club’s youth team.
