Alfredo Morelos’ prolific start to life at Rangers has piqued the interest of Villa, Derby County, Barnsley, Bristol City and Reading.

It’s testament to the impact made at Rangers by Alfredo Morelos that he is already attracting attention from far and wide after just nine appearances for the Glasgow giants.
And, true to form, Morelos found the back of the net once again, taking his tally to eight goals in nine games in all competitions for Pedro Caixinha’s side.

Suddenly, the rather left-wing decision to pay £1 million to Finnish club HJK Helsinki for his services (Daily Record) looks an inspired one. Morelos is a natural born goalscorer, firing 46 goals in 62 games across two seasons in Scandinavia.
And, after taking that prolific form to Scotland, it is only natural that clubs from south of the border would make their interest known.
Aston Villa, in particular, would be an intriguing destination for the Colombia Under-20 international, who harbours hopes of breaking into Jose Pekerman’s senior squad ahead of next summer’s World Cup.
Since being relegated to the Championship in 2016, Villa have spent over £40 million on strikers. While Jonathan Kodjia impressed, top scoring last season, Scott Hogan has suffered bad luck with injuries and former Rangers forward Ross McCormack (below) hit the net just four times before a disagreement with manager Steve Bruce left him omitted from the club’s first-team plans.

However, Rangers will surely play hardball over Morelos’ future, considering that they only signed him this summer. Nonetheless, the South American goal-machine is clearly a player with immense potential and Rangers should get used to speculation.
