According to the Birmingham Mail, Aston Villa boss Dean Smith will make a move for a new striker at the end of the season.

Villa are set to lose Tammy Abraham in the summer, when his loan spell expires and he returns to Chelsea.

Although Villa almost certainly would like to keep Abraham around, the chances of doing so appear very slim, unless they are promoted.

Villa are, therefore, set to be looking to purchase a new number nine – as Smith already assesses his options.

The Birmingham Mail claim that Brentford’s Neal Maupay is a potential candidate to come in at Villa Park for next season.

Smith has so far focused on improving Villa’s defensive options, during his time at the club.

The Villans made four additions last month, with Lovre Kalinic, Kortney Hause, Tom Carroll and Tyrone Mings all arriving.
