Aston Villa are reportedly keen to re-sign West Bromwich Albion’s Gareth Barry.

According to The Mirror, Aston Villa will launch a move to re-sign West Bromwich Albion midfielder Gareth Barry this summer if they win promotion to the Premier League.
Villa will take on Middlesbrough or Derby County in the play-offs having clinched a fourth-place finish, and manager Steve Bruce will be hoping to guide his side back to the top flight.
Bruce won the 2016 play-offs with Hull City before leaving the Tigers, and he will be looking for a little more stability at Villa Park if he does win promotion.
Bruce may already have some transfer targets in mind, and having focused on veteran signings such as John Terry, Christopher Samba, Ahmed Elmohamady, Glenn Whelan and Robert Snodgrass last summer, he could do the same again.

The Mirror report that the Villa boss is keen on West Bromwich Albion midfielder Gareth Barry, and will look to bring him back to Villa Park this summer if promoted.
Barry, 37, first joined Villa from Brighton and Hove Albion way back in 1997, and racked up nearly 450 appearances for the club before heading on to Manchester City in 2009.
A spell with Everton followed before heading to West Brom last summer, where he has struggled this season and even broke curfew in February, with fans seemingly keen for him to move on.
It’s claimed that Barry has a clause in his contract which means he can leave if West Brom – bottom of the Premier League – suffer relegation, and Villa will allegedly look to actviate that, on the condition that they go up this season.
