According to Sky Sports, Aston Villa have agreed a fee with Olympique Marseille for the signing of Morgan Sanson.
The Villans will pay the Ligue 1 outfit a sum of £14 million upfront, with the deal potentially rising to £15.5 million if certain add-ons are met.
Sky Sports add that the 26-year-old will arrive in Birmingham next week, where he’ll presumably undergo his medical examinations and sign a contract.
Sanson – who earned ten caps for France’s Under-21 – has made 120 appearances for Olympique Marseille since joining them in January 2017.
Four years on from his arrival, he looks set to make another January move as Aston Villa close in on their first signing this month.

So, what type of player is Sanson, you may be wondering?
Well, the Birmingham Mail likened him to Douglas Luiz.
They explain their comparison by saying that Sanson likes to get stuck in to challenges, but can also pick his head up and spray passes around like the Brazil international.

To get a player like Sanson in his prime years should definitely excite Villa, who have built one of the best midfields in the Premier League, in our view.
Adding the Frenchman to the likes of Jack Grealish, Douglas Luiz, Ross Barkley and John McGinn makes for a truly mouthwatering midfield.
