Mike Ashley is still operating as if Newcastle United’s proposed takeover will go through, but there are real doubts now starting to emerge over the deal, according to the Northern Echo.
Newcastle’s Saudi-backers have been waiting for Premier League approval for months now, but they have still not been green-lighted to takeover.
The longer the wait has gone on, the more concerning things have become for Newcastle supporters.
Ashley is also now seemingly formulating a plan b, in case the takeover does not go through.
Newcastle apparently have another two possible buyers, and Ashley is said to be exploring his options.

The current Newcastle owner is said to be unable to negotiate with other interested parties right now, due to clauses in the deal that the Saudis have, but he will ‘immediately’ turn his attention to selling the club to another interested party if the current takeover bid falls through.
Ashley has even reportedly made indirect contact with an unnamed American investor, who wants to buy Newcastle.
Ashley on his part is said to remain determined to sell Newcastle, which should serve as some relief to most Magpies supporters.
Most Newcastle fans are desperate for a change of ownership, with Ashley’s time at the helm widely criticised by most of the St. James’ Park crowd.
