Derby County have offered a deal to Ashley Cole – a former Chelsea and England teammate of the Rams boss, Frank Lampard – according to the Sun.
And the newspaper claims Cole is set to complete a move to Pride Park within the next 48 hours.
The left-back became a free agent after leaving Los Angeles Galaxy late last year and is also said to have received approaches from abroad. But Derby’s appeals the most, according to the Sun.
Cole’s arrival will reportedly see a current Rams left-back, Max Lowe, return for a second loan spell at Aberdeen – a move that ‘should go through quickly’.
It is claimed Lampard has decided that Lowe is not yet ready to play first-team football for Derby.
Should Cole’s transfer go ahead, the 38-year-old will join three more past-and-present Chelsea players, Fikayo Tomori, Mason Mount and Jody Morris at Pride Park.
