According to the Sun, AS Roma are preparing a £25 million January move for the Crystal Palace left-back, Patrick van Aanholt.

The newspaper claims the Italian giants, who recently progressed to the Champions League’s last 16, believe that figure is enough to tempt Palace into selling 28-year-old Van Aanholt.

It adds that Manchester City scouts have also monitored the Dutchman’s displays, but it is Roma who could be first to move.

Should Van Aanholt indeed move to the Stadio Olimpico, he would be in direct competition with the former City left-back, Aleksandar Kolarov.

According to the Sun, Crystal Palace are desperate to keep hold of the player who cost them £9 million from Sunderland two years ago, and has scored or assisted 11 goals in 61 games since then.

But the newspaper claims the Eagles would find £25 million ‘hard to knock back’, as they seek funds with which to bolster their striking options in January.
