Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld is reportedly on the radar of AS Roma.

According to Tuttomercatoweb.com, AS Roma are interested in signing Toby Alderweireld from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window.

The Italian news outlet has claimed that Serie A outfit Roma have made recent surveys regarding Tottenham central defender Alderweireld.

Step down

Roma are a massive club, but leaving Tottenham for Roma in the summer transfer window would be a step down for Alderweireld.

The Giallorossi will not feature in the Champions League next season and are unlikely to challenge for the Serie A title.

As for Tottenham, the North London outfit finished in the top four of the Premier League this season and also progressed to the final of the Champions League.

Moreover, Roma may not be able to afford the wages that Alderweireld could demand if he were to leave Tottenham this summer.

The defender himself may not be willing to leave Spurs for Roma in the summer transfer window.
