AS Monaco are leading the race to sign Leeds United transfer target Takumi Minamino from Liverpool, according to The Times.

The Times have reported that Liverpool expect to sell Minamino, who can play as an attacking midfielder or as a winger, in the summer transfer window.

The Reds want £17 million for the Japan international, and Ligue 1 club Monaco are leading the race, according to the report.

90min reported last week that Leeds are interested in signing Minamino from Liverpool in the summer transfer window.

Wolverhampton Wanderers, Fulham, Southampton and Brighton and Hove Albion all are also reported to be keen on the former RB Salzburg star, who earns £72,000 per week (SalarySport) at Liverpool.

Leeds United could miss out on Liverpool’s Takumi Minamino

In our view, Leeds United could miss out on Liverpool attacker Takumi Minamino to AS Monaco.

Monaco finished third in the Ligue 1 title this past season and will play in the UEFA Champions League in 2022-23.

Leeds narrowly avoided relegation from the Premier League this past season.

Monaco are likely to be more appealing than Leeds to Minamino, who scored six goals and created two big chances in 40 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.
