One new report claims there could be good and bad news for Arsenal on the striker front soon.

The Gunners are desperate to tie Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang down to a new contract after his late-season heroics of recent weeks.

Aubameyang almost single-handedly won the FA Cup for Arsenal earlier this month, scoring twice in both the semi against Manchester City and the final against Chelsea.

But according to The Daily Star, the North Londoners believe they’re close in signing the 31-year-old up to a new deal.

That’s the good news, but the bad news is that the same publication claims that Aubameyang’s new deal will result in Mike Arteta moving on Alexandre Lacazette.

The Daily Star added that the ‘unhappy’ France international will join Atletico Madrid in a £30 million deal once his colleague and friend puts pen to paper.

Arsenal spent £52 million on signing Lacazette in 2017, meaning the Emirates Stadium side are willing to take a £22 million loss on that investment.

The former Lyon hitman is nowhere near as important for Arteta as Aubameyang, who scored 29 goals last term – 17 more than Lacazette managed.

But he’s still a popular player among a lot of Arsenal fans, especially after his rocket against Tottenham Hotspur earlier in the summer, but £30 million might be a decent price despite the big loss.
