Mesut Ozil will be left out of Arsenal’s Premier League squad today, the London Evening Standard reports, but he still wants to stay and fight for his place.
Ozil has not featured for Arsenal at all since March, and he will be delivered a further blow from Mikel Arteta later, as he won’t be eligible to play for the Gunners in the league until January.
However, Ozil is said to be unperturbed by the set-back and still have a belief that he can fight his way back into Arteta’s plans.
While Ozil’s confidence is admirable, it may be that his faith is misplaced.
Some Arsenal fans have been calling for the playmaker to be included by Arteta, as they feel he offers them a great amount of creativity.

But Arteta seemingly has other ideas, and it would be a massive surprise if the German, who was recently described as a ‘super talent’ by Arsene Wenger (BBC Sport), pulled on the Arsenal shirt for a Premier League game again now.
Ozil is not the only experienced player to miss out on Arsenal’s Premier League squad list, as Sokratis has also been left out.
