It’s pretty clear that Eddie Nketiah will need to leave Arsenal this summer.
At 21, it’s vital that Nketiah plays regularly at this stage of his development.
But Folarin Balogun’s new contract at Arsenal heavily suggests he will leapfrog his fellow striker in the pecking order under Mikel Arteta next season.
With Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette and Gabriel Martinelli all ahead of him, Nketiah’s future at the Emirates Stadium is looking relatively grim.
But The Mirror has reported that Premier League new boys Watford are plotting a summer swoop for the England Under-21 international.
The report has added that Arteta is looking for around £15 million for the player.
Extraordinary
The Spanish coach might be a tad disappointed if he does sell Nketiah.
Remember, this is a player who the Arsenal boss labelled ‘extraordinary‘ last year but the 2020-21 campaign wasn’t great for the player, scoring twice in 17 Premier League outings.
In total, he only managed 413 minutes of top-flight football this past season and that right there illustrates just how little prospect he has of playing regularly going forward.
